Some Iler Campbell staffing news

August 4th, 2021 by Celia Chandler

With the pandemic slowing the world down last year, as we slowly re‑open, we know lots of people have started making some personal and professional changes.  Our team is no different. While we are sad to be losing a couple of excellent lawyers, we’re excited to bring some new blood onto the team.

Shelina Ali started at the firm as an articling student in 2011 and was a key part of our real estate and corporate commercial group until her departure earlier this year.  We’re pleased that the housing sector, where many of our clients are drawn from, is not losing Shelina – she’s joined the City of Toronto’s legal department working on affordable housing issues where we will continue to have contact with her.

Claudia Pedrero also articled with us in 2016 and after a brief time away as a newly called lawyer, she returned in 2018.  She too has left us this year for a position working at another law firm where, like Shelina, she will remain actively involved in affordable housing development.

Congratulations and best wishes to both Shelina and Claudia as they embark on the next phase of their careers.  We know we speak for all the many clients they’ve worked with when we say they will be missed.

We have been actively recruiting and are delighted to announce Kenneth Farrell has joined the team as of August 3 to work in our real estate and corporate commercial area.  Ken brings residential real estate, wills & estates, and some small business experience with him.  He’s thrilled to be coming to a firm where he can align his progressive values with the work of his clients. We welcome Ken and those clients who’ve chosen to come with him.  Stay tuned to our blog for Ken’s profile.

While we were without a student last year, we are pleased to have Maggie Fleming start her articling term, also on August 3.  Maggie is another UVIC grad – the school where we drew our last student Karly from and Celia’s alma mater.  We’ll profile her, too, in this space in the weeks to come.

August also sees a return of our IT/Marketing Manager, Fraser Page who has been away on a parental leave. We’re pleased to have him back!
