The Regent Park Film Festival is Toronto’s ONLY free, multi-cultural, film festival. The Festival is dedicated to bringing high quality independent films to people from all walks of life, with a focus on folks from low-income and public housing communities. The Regent Park Film Festival promotes arts education through film and video for all ages, but particularly for young people – bringing them stories from around the world to learn from and grow.

The Festival’s principal activity is to organize an annual festival, held in November, along with year-round school and community screenings, panel discussions, performances and film/video workshops at no cost.

The Festival started in 2003 through the efforts of a determined group of community residents and volunteers. Their goal was to bring Regent Park residents access to high quality films that offer a diversity of representations that resonate with inner city experiences.

Today, as Regent Park undergoes a fifteen year re-development, the Festival also works to bring together the many diverse communities that exist in the neighbourhood to share in a common experience. In the next three years, the Regent Park Film Festival is working to reach out to other inner-city communities in Toronto. It will bring them access to films that offer stories of strength and break stereotypes which stigmatize marginalized communities, demonstrating that no one place or person has just one story; rather many possibilities exist.

The Regent Park Film Festival will take place Nov 13 – 16, 2013 in its new home, at Toronto’s new arts and cultural hub, the Daniel’s Spectrum (585 Dundas Street E, Toronto). To find out what is currently happening at the festival, please visit their website at www.regentparkfilmfestival.com.

Iler Campbell has been working with the Festival since 2007. We have been pleased to help with their charitable registration as well as with board, contract and employment matters.
