It’s been, to put it lightly, quite the year.
There’ve been ups and downs, and downs, and then more downs. And yet in the face of it all we’ve all adapted, accommodated and persevered.
In the midst of everything we’ll all had to adapt to new ways of working, living, socializing…
And we’ve had to do a heck of a lot of things online.
And so it’s in that spirit of online communication, socialization, and sometimes fun, that we put together our look back at the year that felt like a continuation of the never ending year that was 2020.
Presenting….

Fraser’s the guy we call when things aren’t working right, we forget how to use Excel, or when we need a snazzy fake-office-chat-app website. He spent much of 2020 on paternity leave with his son Sasza.
Outside of work hours, you’re most likely to find April, guitar in hand, working on learning a new song, or on an hours long hike or bike ride after which she’ll reward herself in a café or restaurant.
Norlinda is Iler Campbell’s corporate law clerk. She’s a big fan of the outdoors. She grew up climbing trees and catching fish sometimes using just her bare just hands. Really! During COVID she’s found herself returning more and more to nature for the humbling, humanizing and healing feelings you just can’t get anywhere else. This year’s first snow storm she heard the sound of each snow flake falling.
Ted is a partner at Iler Campbell where he has practised law more than 20 years. In his spare time he dreams about his Cape Breton house, where he spends every vacation.
Hunter is Iler Campbell’s litigation law clerk. Outside of the office you can often find him exploring new restaurants downtown, taking photos of his cat, in the gym or taking care of his indoor plants (yes, he describes him self as a proud plant dad).
Maggie is Iler Campbell’s current articling student. Outside of the office she’s a podcast aficionado (Canadaland and The Daily Zeitgeist are two favourites), big fan of snacks, and can often be found cuddling with her dog, Frank.

Tania keeps our finances in line. She is itching to travel again home to Sri Lanka or anywhere else she can get a flight. And when she does, you know there’ll be a lot of laughter!
Ken is the most recent addition to the Iler Campbell team. In his bio he writes, of seeing a job posting from the firm: “‘Want to feel good about the work of your clients?’ it asked. I did. That job posting affected me as a bellows does an ember.” And here he is! Fun fact, he and Fraser know each other from years ago when Ken preformed in Toronto’s indie music scene.

Safia is a member of our litigation team. She has practised with the firm for 7 years (wow!). In her spare time, she explores her west end neighbourhood, attempts winter biking and experiments with Ottolenghi recipes.

Andrea is our receptionist and office cheerleader. She’s the first person most of our clients talk to and always the first to chime in with a ‘Go Team!’ when there’s something worth celebrating.

Michael is a member of the litigation team at Iler Campbell. In his spare time you can often find him working on perfecting a magic trick or cheering on one of his lacrosse star sons.

Brian and Charles Campbell founded Iler Campbell in 1982. When he’s away from his desk you’ll often find him at a Hugh’s Room Live concert, or on Lake Ontario racing his sailboat, Indefatigable.
Fatima was here and then wasn’t here and now is again here for the last 8 years! Fun fact – Julie and Fatima are related by marriage. (Not to each other)

Aside from Brian, Nirmala has been at Iler Campbell longer than anyone else. In her spare time, she likes to forget about the piles of paper in the office that consume her 9-5. (Did we mention that Iler Campbell used a lot of paper in the 70s, 80s, and 90s?)

Becky is our senior real estate law clerk. She enjoys spending time with her two kids who we know will have grown up a whole lot since we last saw them at a summer party!
